From 2009 to 2017, electricity prices have increased by 443% where inflation only increased by 98% across the same period. Considering the current serious state of Eskom’s debt, consumers can likely expect a continuance of much higher than inflation electricity price increases over the next several years. With these forecasts in mind, businesses are being forced to invest large sums to restructure
their energy consumption and keep operational costs low, mitigating as much of this risk as possible. Although many avenues to achieve this exist, energy efficient lighting
has proven to offer the lowest hanging fruit as the smaller Capital expenditures
provide for shorter return on investments. Furthermore, LED Lighting
efficiencies continue to increase while their prices continue to decrease and
so- in stark contrast to South Africa’s electricity price -the situation is only getting better
