Cape Town Prepaid Electricity Update ⚡💡

From 1 July 2025, the City has introduced a new fixed service charge of R59.90/month (R1.97 per day) on prepaid electricity users.

This means every time you top up, part of your spend now goes to this fixed fee — not just units.

This is a positive move towards sensible, transparent compliance.

Until there’s clarity, is recommending solar owners hold off on registering their systems.
