COOL GREY QUARTZ | TEXTURE, DETAIL & DESIGN

Some projects give us the opportunity to show just how versatile a flooring finish can be. Our latest Classic Quartz installation in ‘Cool Grey’ was one of them.

With carefully defined floor sections, changes in level, precise edging and transitions between finishes, this project called for patience and attention to every junction. Bringing a consistent finish through this unique layout was where the workmanship really counted.

And the aesthetics? Beautifully understated.

The fine quartz stones introduce natural texture and subtle colour variation, giving the surface depth without overwhelming the architecture. Cool Grey compliments the exposed concrete, crisp white walls and dark window frames, creating a calm, contemporary palette. As the light moves across the floor, the individual stones catch it gently, revealing the character within the finish.

A PREMIUM FINISH STARTS WITH THE RIGHT SYSTEM.

Our latest completed garage showcases a crisp grey floor with contrasting black and white decorative flakes, finished in a beautiful gloss using epoxy enamel resin manufactured by Dekster Performance Coatings.

A fresh look for the space, with the practical benefits of a durable, easy-to-clean resin floor.

EPOXY OR POLYURETHANE FLAKE SYSTEMS — WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE?

The flakes create the appearance. The resin system beneath and around them determines how the floor performs.

EPOXY FLAKE SYSTEMS
Typically provide a hard, rigid surface with strong adhesion and good resistance to wear. A professionally specified epoxy system is an excellent option for many garages, workshops and interior spaces.

POLYURETHANE FLAKE SYSTEMS
Selected polyurethane formulations offer greater flexibility, while UV-stable aliphatic options provide improved resistance to sunlight and yellowing. Their suitability depends on the particular product and the demands of the space.

Some specifications combine an epoxy base with a polyurethane topcoat to bring these benefits together.

OUR YZERFONTEIN TERRAZZO PROJECT IS TAKING SHAPE

When we first shared this project, we were in the early stages of exposing the aggregate. Now, the latest progress reveals the beautiful character of Cemcrete terrazzo in ‘Tulbagh Nougat’.

The warm nougat base, complemented by earthy tones and darker stone chips, creates a richly detailed floor that feels perfectly at home on the West Coast. These close-up views show just how much character lies within the surface.

There’s time, patience and careful workmanship behind this transformation. As our team works through the grinding and refinement stages, the aggregate becomes more defined and the overall appearance comes together.

Across this project of over 200 m², every stage brings us closer to the vision—and we’re proud to share the work along the way.

The site is still in progress, but these floors are already making a statement. We’ll keep you updated as we move towards completion. 👌

WARMTH, TEXTURE & CAREFUL CRAFTSMANSHIP | VAL DE VIE

We’re proud to showcase our recently completed project in Val de Vie, featuring Original Seamless Flooring Quartz Carpet in ‘Copper’.

The warm copper tones and fine quartz texture bring depth and character to this outdoor space, beautifully complementing the surrounding neutral finishes. In the sunlight, the individual stones catch the light, revealing the detail within the floor.

This project took time—and careful preparation was a substantial part of the work. Before the decorative finish could be installed, our team gave the underlying surface the attention it needed to lay the foundation for the final result.

That same care carried through to the application, with close attention to the edges and consistency of the finish across the area.

A beautiful floor is the result of many stages done well. Seeing them come together like this makes the effort worthwhile.

FROM BARE CONCRETE TO A FLOOR WORTH SHOWCASING 👌

These before-and-after images show the transformation achieved by our team at Cape Coast Projects.

We applied self-levelling screed to create a smoother, more even base before installing the Flowcrete UV Deckshield system in white, with a 5% scatter of Platinum flake.

The crisp white finish brightens the space, while the subtle Platinum flake adds texture and character without overpowering the clean look.

A quality floor starts with what’s underneath. Careful preparation and attention to the levels lay the foundation for the finished result—and our workmanship carries through every stage.

QUALITY STARTS BELOW THE SURFACE 👌

Following our earlier post on the floor preparation and self-levelling work, here’s a look at how the finishes are coming together at Vergelegen W**e Estate.

With the groundwork completed by Cape Coast Projects, GT Flooring installed the beautiful Oggie hardwood flooring, bringing warmth and character to this impressive space beneath the exposed timber roof.

At the adjoining doorway, the hardwood meets our 6 mm Flowfresh RT polyurethane screed in Signal Grey. Two distinct finishes, each serving its purpose, brought together through careful planning of floor levels and attention to the transition.

Our screed installation features neatly formed perimeter coving and a practical, textured finish. The workmanship is in those details: the preparation beneath the floor, the edges, the thresholds and the care taken throughout the installation.

There’s still work happening around us, but it’s rewarding to see these spaces taking shape and the effort behind the scenes becoming visible.

Another flake floor completed by Cape Coast Projects—and a finish we’re proud to showcase.

From the bare concrete seen in the before image to this striking finished floor, our team transformed the garage using Dekster Performance Coatings in dark grey, with 70% Domino flake scatter.

The black-and-white flakes create a crisp contrast against the dark grey base, adding depth and detail. The glossy finish catches the light beautifully, giving the space a refined, premium feel.

THE FINISH STARTS BENEATH THE FLOOR.

At Vergelegen W**e Estate, we’ve been preparing the restaurant floor for its timber flooring installation by GT Flooring.

The before and after photos show a big change, but the most important work is in the preparation: working through the existing surface, correcting imperfections and creating a smooth, sound base ready for the next trade. It takes care and patience to get to this stage, and we’re proud of the result.

We’re also busy with several other projects across the estate, bringing together flooring, wall and ceiling solutions. It’s a privilege to work in a setting with so much character and to play a part in bringing these spaces to life.

We can’t wait to see the timber floor installed. More updates from Vergelegen to come.

Sometimes the best finished floor starts right at the beginning — with the concrete itself.

By casting the concrete surface bed correctly from day one, we can mechanically diamond hone the slab to expose the natural aggregate, creating a completely unique architectural finish.

No tiles. No decorative coating trying to imitate concrete. This is the actual concrete surface, mechanically refined and finished.

Getting the fundamentals right is key — concrete mix, levels, placing and finishing all play an important role. Once adequately cured, we progressively diamond hone the surface to achieve the required aggregate exposure before completing the final protection.
