Southern Cape Engineering was established in 1992 by David de Jager a Project Management Professional (PMP) with more than 25 years’ experience in engineering and the project management of multi-disciplinary engineering projects in the petrochemical, pulp & paper, pharmaceutical and food industries. Multi-disciplinary projects managed included the following engineering disciplines (process, electr
ical, mechanical, civil, structural, automation). The various Projects were managed on behalf of Contractors, Consultants and Clients. In Feb 2015 Project Systems carried out a technical and commercial evaluation study of the major equipment manufactures/suppliers and installation contractors of Solar Photovoltaic (PV) systems in the Western Cape. After thorough technical and commercial adjudication proven European designed equipment was selected for a combined PV and Back-Up System. This 2kV system is currently operating as a “Pilot Plant” and is being thoroughly tested and monitored. Once the system has been optimized it will be used as the basis for the design and development of a range of standard “skid mounted” PV Systems suitable for both residential and small businesses. The standard Photovoltaic and Back-up systems will be designed to ensure that the consumer (private or small business user) has uninterrupted power supply during load shedding. As soon Eskom or municipal power supply fails or is cut-off the system will automatically activate and take over the supply to the connected loads. The change over to back-up or solar power will happen in less than 20 milliseconds ensuring that computers and other electronic equipment continue to operate without disruption. Project Systems provides Project Management Services to clients and applies the principals and tools incorporated in the Project Management Body of Knowledge PMBOK® when managing projects. The combination of experience and implementation of the project management fundamentals included in the PMBOK® ensures that projects are completed successfully.
