Meet Jo-Anne Dietrich.

Jo-Anne Dietrich began her BITZER South Africa journey in 2004 as the Johannesburg branch receptionist. Over the next 15 years, she progressed to the role of branch administrator until she assumed the position of branch manager in 2021.

Her responsibilities include collaborating with the Sales Team, working closely with the Stores Team to ensure accurate stock holding for the seamless and efficient supply of BITZER products, and also overseeing the BITZER Greenpoint Team to ensure that our experienced technicians consistently provide world-class service to our many valued customers.

BITZER Sénégal a de nouveau participé à la Journée Mondiale de l’Ozone au Sénégal qui a eue lieu à Mbour. Le thème de cette année : « le Protocole de Montréal : Restaurer la couche d’ozone et réduire le réchauffement climatique » a permis à la société BITZER de montrer à la communauté internationale que les groupes de condensation ECOLITE et LHE répondent parfaitement aux exigences environnementales, en étant compatibles avec l’emploi des fluides A2L à bas GWP, et aussi sur le plan des économies d’énergie. "BITZER South Africa Marks 30 Years of HVAC&R Excellence!!

On Friday, September 15th, we celebrated our 30th Anniversary at Cape Town’s Royal Yacht Club, surrounded by valued customers, industry partners, and our dedicated staff.

Our German Beer Festival-themed event paid homage to our heritage, providing an opportunity for us all to come together, relax, and commemorate three decades of excellence.

Highlighting the global significance of the celebration, Mr Mathias Layher, BITZER Sales Director AC, Marine, and Process, flew in from Germany, and Mr Enitan Abisoye, BITZER GM from BITZER Nigeria attended from Lagos.

Our heartfelt thanks to our many customers who travelled from across the country to join the celebration. This included attendees from as far afield as Johannesburg, Durban, Namibia, and Nigeria

During his speech, BITZER South Africa’s Managing Director, Mr Torsten Steinborn, expressed his gratitude to our customers and partners for their unwavering support and acknowledged their pivotal role in our growth and success. They've been instrumental in making BITZER Africa a cornerstone of the local HVAC&R industry.

Reflecting on BITZER South Africa's journey, Jose Marques, who has been with us for thirty years, shared insights into how our journey began back in 1993 with the establishment of our South African headquarters in Cape Town. He highlighted the challenges we have conquered and the milestones we have achieved on our path to becoming a leading player in the HVAC&R sector in the region.

Our three-decade journey stands as a testament to our unwavering commitment to quality, innovation, and technical expertise. As we look ahead, our dedication to advancing the HVAC&R industry in South Africa and beyond remains steadfast.

With the continued support of our many valued customers and partners across the region, we feel confident that we will continue to grow the sector together.

Here are some images and technical information about the recently completed Merlus Seafood ACP Cold Store project installed by Thovo Therm in Walvis Bay, Namibia earlier this year.

The project converted Merlus Seafood Processor’s cold store from a Freon R507A-based refrigerant plant to a new NH3 plant R717A (AMMONIA) plant.

This conversion to ammonia not only allowed the client to harness the cost savings and operational efficiencies offered by the BITZER ACPs, but the R717 NH3 with a GWP of 0, compared to the previous R507A with a GWP of 3985, is also far more sustainable.

BITZER Africa supplied their ACP8591N-2C Pack for this project utilising AMMONIA. Their innovative ACP optimizes operations by intelligently managing the two screw compressors, ensuring peak efficiency and minimizing energy consumption. Using a natural refrigerant also aligned perfectly with Merlus Seafood Processors' commitment to sustainability and efficiency.

The system is operated with an open flash economizer and the lead compressor runs with a VSD. It runs @ -32 C evaporating temperature and 33 C condensing temperature producing 340 kW of cooling capacity.

The project was completed quickly, with rapid installation and impeccable delivery times. BITZER Africa’s compact, fully assembled, pre-wired packs definitely made for trouble-free installation and contributed to the speed of completion.

Thovo Therm Namibia, an expert in the design, supply, installation, and servicing of industrial and commercial refrigeration equipment, was the contractor on this pioneering project which marked the first-ever BITZER ACP industrial installation in Namibia, setting a significant precedent in the region.

Torsten Steinborn joined BITZER South Africa in 2013 and has served as their Managing Director since 2019. In this role, he oversees key portfolios such as Sales and Marketing, Operations, HR, IT, and Finance, while managing the budgets for both BITZER South Africa and BITZER Nigeria.

Efficient & eco-friendly cooling for supermarkets with BITZER ECOLINE+

BITZER ECOLINE+ reciprocating compressors are available solely for CO2 applications. With its GWP of 1, CO2 offers users planning security over the long term. ECOLINE+ is particularly suitable for supermarket applications and is available in both 4- and 6-cylinder versions. The ECOLINE+ series features improved motor technology that fully exploits the motor’s high efficiency and the low heat input of the CO2 refrigerant. With the help of line-start permanent-magnet (LSPM) motors, the compressors achieve a seasonal energy performance ratio (SEPR) up to 14% higher (annual performance figure).
