Farming sugarcane in Zimbabwe under Agrico pivots 🌾💧

At Leafy Acres in Zimbabwe, 260 hectares of sugarcane are currently thriving under an Agrico irrigation system. The Agrico team is now busy adding another 739 ha, meaning that a total of almost 1000 ha will soon grow under our pivots.

Agrico besproei by NWU se landbou afdeling 💧👨‍🌾

Vier twee-toring Agrico spilpunte is nou deel van Noord-Wes Universiteit-leerders se praktiese opvoeding. Onder hierdie spilpunte plant studente verskeie gewasse, waaronder sonneblomme, aartappels, mielies en sojabone, as deel van hul praktiese opleiding. 🥔🌽

Die spilpunte besproei ongeveer 5 hektaar en verseker dat water doeltreffend en eweredig versprei word, wat optimale groeitoestande vir die gewasse verseker.

Dit is 'n voorreg om deel te wees van die ons landbou se toekoms. 🎓

Sometimes the simplest solutions make the biggest difference. 💡

At Inyoni Farms in Komatipoort, a common challenge inspired a smarter solution.

“We had a major problem on the farm with the standard aluminium stake. These stakes were regularly knocked over, bent, and most importantly, stolen,” explains Nicholas Prinsloo, production manager of Inyoni's banana division.

Working closely with the team at Inyoni, Agrico designed a custom PVC irrigation stake that is strong, durable and built for local conditions. It is simply pushed into the ground, resists bending and is designed to last for the entire lifespan of a banana plant: 8 to 10 years. 💧🍌

Innovation doesn't always have to be complex. Practical, purpose-built solutions often make the biggest difference in the field.

A project of this scale requires extensive planning and a very dedicated team!
