| GRANITE vs. QUARTZ for your countertops?
Although both are beautiful options, we often get clients asking us which is better. We thought we'd share some facts on both, and let you decide.
• PRICE
The simple answer is that if your colour scheme allows for the more readily available Granite tops, this option will be the cheapest. Quartz countertops are generally pricier.
• VARIETY
Although you will have a fair choice when it comes to Granite, if you are not willing to go with the more readily available colours these countertops can become more pricey. Because Quartz tops are manufactured you will have many more options available to choose from to suit your colour scheme.
• MAINTENANCE AND DURABILITY
Because Granite is a natural stone it has higher heat resistance, it is also rather porous, meaning that it has a higher tendency to stain. Quartz is harder than Granite, and is thus more durable, but it does not have the same heat resistance. Be careful with those hot pots on a Quartz top! Because Quartz is not porous it is easier to keep bacteria-free.
