How our seed treatments support biosecurity.

Today, in celebration of International Day of Plant Health at the National Biosecurity Hub , and in collaboration with the ARC and the Department of Agriculture, our Seedcare team showcased the value of our range of seed treatment technology as part of an interactive Biosecurity Experience at the ARC Campus, Roodeplaat.

Our Seedcare experts, consisting of Elrine Strydom, Technical Lead and Jedd Govender, Seedcare and Biologicals Lab Analyst, proudly showcased and shared knowledge on the critical role seed treatments play in plant biosecurity and food security, and interactively showed why our seed treatments are your first line of defense as they protect seed and seedlings from seed- and soilborne pests and diseases at the very start, helping to reduce the spread of harmful organisms, strengthen crop resilience and support food security.

South Africa's Minister of Agriculture John Steenhuisen opened the Congress with a clear message : partnership, collaboration, and innovation are non-negotiable for the future of African agriculture. And we couldn’t agree more.
As Key Sponsor of AFSTA Congress 2026, we were honoured to welcome the Minister to the Syngenta stand. Our MD Luc Henry walked him through the technology and solutions we bring to growers across the region and Prof. Driekie Fourie (Seedcare Product Biologist, AME) gave him a proper deep-dive into our Seedcare innovations, including a live nematode showcase at our microscopy stand.

Gister was ’n lekker koel en bewolkte dag by die AIS Insette Dag in Delmas, waar sowat 350 produsente en insetverskaffers saamgekom het om oor die nuwe seisoen se uitdagings en oplossings te gesels.

By die Syngenta-stalletjie het areabestuurder Leon van Wyk en veldtogbestuurder Eduan Theron gesels oor vooropkoms onkruidbeheer in sojabone en die rol van EDDUS as ’n nuwe breëblaar- en grasonkruiddoder vir die bestuur van Amaranthus-weerstandigheid wat onlangs in die Delmas-gebied bevestig is.

By die Syngenta Seedcare-stalletjie het Wayne Jansen van Rensburg en Elrine Strydom ook produsente meer vertel oor die Cruiser Ultimate-boks en hoe saadbehandeling help om die seisoen sterk te begin.

Baie dankie aan AST en Agro Centre Agrocentre vir die organisering van die dag en aan elke produsent wat kom inloer en saamgesels het.
