The new gravel road at Rondeberg. We did a box cut. Imported moist material from a mine we established nearby. We then flattened it with the Loader. Final cut with a Grader. No roller or water-car used. Look how nice it ended up.

In May, we laid some pipe and build a culvert with precast concrete crib/cratch at Rondeberg. After completion we build a new gravel road (1.3km) on the guest farm. Another JV with Kirsten Vervoer.

This is a pic of me, back in 1991, setting out the road from Tygerberg hospital to the morgue. Notice that there are no electronics involved. Nowadays it's much easier to setout coordinates and or to do levelling. The other 2 pictures are of the modern day laser level, which I use daily. Much quicker and easier to use than the older dumpy level. I'll send you picture of my antique theodolite, dumpy level and clinometer after this post.

1991 - Ascon Court - Constantia - My first experience with a retaining wall. I did my T1 practical for Ken Stephens Construction. I think the contract amount was R500 000-00. This was to be able to build a tennis court on a steep slope.

These blocks are called Löffelstein blocks and are the most practical and durable for these heights.

It was a scorching 36 degrees Celsius today.
We upgraded an existing earth drain that wasn't draining properly, due to wrong levels.
As you can see we placed pegs (conduit pipe) every 20m with the correct level marked with green isolation tape. If you zoom in on the picture, you'll see it. This is very important in all Civil works.

Some of my archive photo's. These are before and after pictures of a job in Sea Point, 2014. I did 3 things:
1. Roll-on Lawn
2. Bark in the beds and
3. Cobble Edging to divide 1 & 2

Cost effective solution. Look at the colour contrast.
