➕ Project Showcase | Bearing Corporation Multi-purpose Warehouse

There are few things more satisfying than seeing steel take shape, but a warehouse is more than a frame.

Every steel construction project, large or small, requires expertise, collaboration and commitment.

Ask anyone who's built a steel structure what slows a project down.

Usually it's the handovers. The detailer finishes, the fabricator starts. The fabricator finishes, the erectors start. Then another company completes the cladding and paintwork.

On Bearing Corporation's new warehouse in Germiston, we managed all of it. 218 tonnes of structural steel, detailed, fabricated, transported, erected, clad and painted.

Fewer handovers, fewer surprises on site. That's what turnkey should mean.

➕ Project Showcase | Sunset Beach

At Sunset Beach in Pongola, B&T Steel built new structures set in open bushveld, right alongside the existing thatch and tiled lodge buildings around the pool courtyard.

The brief was a set of separate buildings, each shaped for a different job. Double-storey units with generous window openings. Steel pergolas that extend the living space onto the courtyard.

Each one had to be designed and detailed, then fabricated, transported to a remote site in northern KZN, erected and clad. 71 tonnes in total, all handled by B&T Steel.

The result sits comfortably in its setting. Clean gable forms, light cladding, and steel that does the heavy lifting without dominating the view.

Mining structures don't get a second chance. No shortcuts on the design, no compromise on what has to hold up in the harshest conditions.

B&T Steel designs, details, fabricates, transports and assembles steel structures purpose-built for mining environments. Workshops, maintenance bays, non-processing infrastructure, buildings that have to perform where the work is hardest. From metals and ore extraction to hydroelectric power, steel gives mining operations the strength, durability and corrosion resistance the environment demands, without the cost or maintenance burden of the alternatives.

We work closely with engineers, architects and other contractors on-site to make sure the finished structure is fit-for-purpose from day one, not just on paper. Every project also comes with the SADC certificates, transport documentation and shipping paperwork sorted, so getting steel to remote sites across Africa doesn't become its own project.

A padel lob shot needs somewhere to go. Enclose the court and get the roof height wrong, and you've capped the game before it starts.

B&T Steel recently delivered the structural steel roof over 4 padel courts in Centurion, Gauteng, and that clearance was central to the brief. Enough height for a proper lob, a structure that holds up as a permanent, all-weather enclosure so the courts can be used every day, rain or shine.

We ran the full project scope. Design, detailing, fabrication, transport, assembly, cladding and painting, delivered as a complete turnkey solution. One contractor from concept to completed roof, so decisions like clearance height don't get lost between drawing and delivery.

The cladding carries a sport-themed mural too, tying the structure back to the wider sports centre it sits within. A roof built to perform, and a finish built to be seen from the road.

At 48.5 tonnes, it's far from the biggest structure we've built. But it's one of the more interesting ones. The kind of project that makes you think differently about what a roof actually needs to do.

➕ Project Showcase | MP Mining

MP Mining needed a reagent store, warehouse and workshop for their site in Mosetse, Botswana. The project included a main warehouse with roller shutter bays for equipment access, a mezzanine level with office space, and a separate workshop building alongside it.

The steel frame carries the load-bearing roof span across the open warehouse floor, with the staircase and upper office fitted into the main structure rather than bolted on as an afterthought. Cladding and paintwork finished to the same standard we'd deliver on any South African build.

This facility was delivered as a full turnkey solution, covering design, detailing, fabrication, transport, assembly, cladding and painting.

Standard or custom steel structure, which does your project actually need?

Standard structures win on speed: fixed spans, quick pricing, sometimes stock availability. Good fit for a simple, regular footprint.

But if your site is irregular, needs to handle cranes or mezzanine levels, or has to tie into existing buildings a custom design isn't the "expensive upgrade" people assume. It's the only approach that actually fits.

And custom doesn't have to mean slow. Planned properly from day one with an experienced fabricator involved early, a custom structure moves through workshop and site as efficiently as a standard build. The complexity only creeps in when design happens in isolation from the people building it.

The real question isn't "what's available off the shelf." It's "what does this site actually need."

A lot of construction quotes look simple until the invoices start arriving. Ours are built to be transparent from the outset, and that same transparency carries through into how we handle clients after the structure is up.

No hidden costs on the quote and our after-sales support exists specifically so that clients aren't left chasing answers months or years after a project wraps.

That matters because steel structures are a long-term investment, often decades long, which means the company behind the build needs to be around just as long.

Our after-sales commitment includes performance assurance over the life of the structure. That means honouring warranties properly, keeping records of what was built and how, and treating a service call five years from now with the same urgency as one from opening week.

Nobody sees the 5am load-out. Everyone sees the finished structure.

As part of our current fleet rebrand, this truck was loaded before sunrise and on the road not long after — structural steel secured, crane in place, next site waiting. New branding on the outside, same process that’s kept us reliable for more than 30 years.

This is the part of the job that happens before anyone’s watching.

B&T Steel delivers complete steelwork package for H and M in Delmas.

We recently completed a warehouse for H and M, a 4 000 m² facility built to support high-volume operations.

B&T Steel handled the full scope on this project, from design and detailing through to fabrication, manufacturing, transport and on-site assembly. We also completed the cladding installation and protective painting, delivering a durable, well-finished structure built to meet the client's performance and efficiency requirements.

This project is a strong example of what we do best: custom shaped and sized steel structures, engineered and built to spec for demanding industrial applications. The structure took shape into a long warehouse with a roof-mounted solar array, brick infill walls, and a separate front section where an angled roof intersects the main building. The roof sheeting and side cladding features polycarbonate sheeting strips for natural daylight, and the structure was designed to carry a roof-mounted solar array.
