Duys Engineering supported the development of a major aluminium wheel manufacturing plant in Oman, a strategic investment between Oman Investment Fund Corporation and Synergies India.

The facility was designed to produce up to 10,000 wheels per day for the global automotive market. After construction was halted during the COVID-19 pandemic, Duys was brought in to install and commission the plant’s automated equipment and production systems.

Over an eight-month period, our team helped bring the facility online, overseeing the installation and commissioning of key processes including melting, casting, heat treatment, machining, painting, and integrated conveyor systems, as well as critical plant infrastructure.

In addition to commissioning the plant, Duys engineers also trained local Omani technicians and operators, supporting the long-term operation of the facility.

The first aluminium wheel was successfully cast in December 2021.

Duys Engineering was involved in the Escravos Gas-to-Liquids (EGTL) Project in Nigeria, a major energy project developed by Chevron Nigeria Limited and the Nigerian National Petroleum Company.

The EGTL plant, which began operating in 2014, converts natural gas into liquid fuels and is part of a broader strategy to make better use of Nigeria’s gas resources.

For this project, Duys was contracted to build specialised Wax Filtration Modules using technology developed in South Africa. Because the technology contains sensitive intellectual property, the modules were manufactured under strict confidentiality agreements.

Our team fabricated and fully assembled the modules at our yard, managing subcontractors and preparing the structures for export. The completed work included approximately 1,500 tons of steel structures and piping, along with the installation of specialised equipment.

After assembly, the structures were disassembled into eight modules for shipment to Nigeria, where Duys engineers also supervised the final assembly on site.

The fabrication work was completed over eight months, followed by an additional two months on site in Nigeria.

As part of the Tasiast gold mine expansion project, Duys was contracted to manufacture the process equipment. This included detailed drawings, shop fabrication, red line drawings, structures, platforms, piping, hoppers, chutes, liners, bins, settling and leach tanks, carbon absorption vessels, and cyanide tanks, launders, bag splitters, carbon quench water hoppers.

Duys manufactured and supplied over 500 items, 2000 tons of steel shipment to Mauritania.
