Last week, the Kaleidocode team had the privilege of sponsoring a hole at the annual Stimela Golf Day, an event dedicated to raising funds for educational bursaries supporting deserving South African students through the Mpumalanga Educational Trust.

It was a full-circle moment, connecting with industry leaders while sharing our story, drawing an amazing raffle, and getting the opportunity to share the work we do in employment preparation and bridging young engineers into the workforce.

We are proud to play our part in building a future where young South Africans have real opportunities. Thank you to Stimela for including us, and to everyone who stopped by our hole and engaged with us on the day.

Here is to more collaboration, more conversations, and more impact.

Our apprentices have journeyed through the world of Automation Testing, exploring the foundations of modern quality engineering - from core testing principles and automation concepts, to API and frontend testing; using industry-relevant tools and practices.

They gained hands-on experience with Postman for endpoint testing and Cypress for frontend automation. They also learnt how to build scalable, maintainable test frameworks by covering concepts such as the DOM, solid principles and the Page Object Model. Additionally, they examined how AI is beginning to shape the future of automation testing.

By combining technical knowledge with practical implementation, they are building the skills needed to deliver reliable, efficient, and quality-driven software solutions.

Our apprentices have completed their Coding Bootcamp, with a focus on building code that is clean, testable and maintainable, not just code that works.

Grounded in SOLID principles, they learned how to structure code so that responsibilities are clear, components are loosely coupled, and systems are easier to extend and maintain over time.

A big part of the bootcamp was learning to think about iterative problem solving. By working with unit testing and Test-Driven Development, they practiced writing focused tests that validate real logic, step by step, and give confidence that changes won’t break existing functionality.

They also learned how to isolate dependencies using stubs and mocks, making it possible to test components properly without relying on external systems or dependencies.

Coupled with working through coding katas, they developed a more deliberate approach to problem-solving and code design.

It’s a strong step towards writing code that holds up in real-world systems, not just in theory but in practice.

Our apprentices have just leveled up their testing game!

Our Test Core Bootcamp made them work through real testing scenarios, applying black-box techniques to design structured test cases and test plans using industry tools like TestRail (for test management) and JMeter (for performance testing). They executed tests, logged and prioritised defects, and gained practical experience across the full Software Testing Life Cycle, while also exploring how AI can support test case design evaluating its impact on coverage and efficiency.

This experience equips them with a solid, practical foundation to approach software with a quality-first mindset and contribute to building production-ready systems.

Our apprentices tackled a real-world business challenge - from eliciting requirements by carrying out "client" interviews to analysing systems with story maps and process flows.
They translated requirements into user stories and designed a mobile app using Figma & Figma Make.
The result? A practical, end-to-end experience in turning business problems into clear, actionable designs.

Our Pivot26 Apprentices recently completed the Professional skills and Project Management Bootcamps as part of our KCP Apprenticeship Program.
While the Professional Skills bootcamp focused on building communication, presentation skills and workplace readiness, the Project management bootcamp aimed to help the apprentices learn how to plan, collaborate and deliver projects with impact.
