We are hiring a Senior Quantity Surveyor
JOB DESCRIPTION:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to head and manage the Quantity Surveying department. This is a senior leadership role requiring strong commercial acumen, strategic oversight, and the ability to manage multiple projects and a QS team effectively.
Estimating knowledge and experience will be a strong advantage.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
● Lead and manage the Quantity Surveying department
● Provide commercial oversight across all construction projects
● Oversee cost planning, budgeting, and financial reporting
● Manage procurement, subcontractor appointments, and contract administration.
● Control project costs, variations, claims, and final accounts
● Identify and mitigate commercial and contractual risks
● Liaise with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and internal teams
● Support and review estimating and tender pricing where required
● Mentor and develop QS staff
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
● Degree or Diploma in Quantity Surveying or related field
● Minimum 10 years’ experience in the construction industry
● Proven experience in a senior or managerial QS role
● Strong knowledge of construction contracts and commercial management
● Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills
● Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
● Estimating and tendering experience
● Experience heading or managing a QS department
● Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (particularly, Microsoft Excel)
● Knowledge of CCS is essential
● Excellent verbal and written communication skills
● Detail and action-oriented with excellent organisation skills & demonstrated ability to multitask
● Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and quickly pivot in response to evolving priorities
● Professional registration will be an added advantage
● Proficient with MS Projects Professional
