Job Description:
Gehring Engineering, a leader in precision engineering and manufacturing, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Fitter and Turner to join our team in East London. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of hands-on machining experience, with strong capabilities in both fitting and turning. This role is critical to our operations and requires a meticulous professional with a proven ability to work with precision machinery, particularly lathes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform precision fitting and turning operations on various components.
- Operate and maintain manual and CNC lathes and other machine tools.
- Interpret technical drawings and specifications accurately.
- Measure and inspect components to ensure they meet required tolerances and standards.
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of machinery.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to meet project timelines and quality standards.
- Adhere to health and safety regulations and company policies.
Minimum Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in fitting and turning in a machining environment.
- Proven experience and competency operating lathes.
- Must be residing in East London or within a reasonable commuting distance.
- Excellent knowledge of technical drawings, measuring instruments, and machining practices.
- Strong attention to detail and quality.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Must be willing to undergo a one-day full interview and practical assessment on a lathe to evaluate skills and competency.
