Day 4: Why Our Community Needs This Chapter đź“–

Description:

Chapter 1 of Think and Grow Rich hit DIFFERENT today.

We finished the preface chapters and dove into the first real lesson—and the conversation went deep. We talked about how in our impoverished communities, there are people who carry the memory of everyone's failures. They remind you of who tried and lost. They'll tell you about every person who started a business and failed, every dream that didn't work out. They become self-appointed "realists" who keep the next generation from taking chances.

But Napoleon Hill presents a different reality.

Edwin C. Barnes had NO money, NO influence, NO education. He wanted to partner with Thomas Edison—the greatest inventor of the age. He was so determined that he traveled by freight train to meet Edison because he couldn't afford a ticket. Edison said he looked like a tramp but saw something in his eyes: determination. Barnes waited YEARS for his chance. When it came—selling the Edison Dictating Machine—he made millions. But Hill says the lesson was worth more than the money. The lesson was: a burning desire + persistence = fortune.

R.U. Darby stopped digging three feet from gold. He sold the mine to a junk man who dug three more feet and made millions. Darby could have let that defeat him. Instead, he learned. He became one of the top insurance salesmen in America because he told himself: "I stopped three feet from gold once. I will NEVER stop because someone says no."

We had to reshoot this video. Our camera stopped at 7 minutes and we didn't notice. We could have used the first take. But we reshot it—same time, same energy—because we wanted the boys to SEE determination, not just hear about it.

This chapter is teaching us that our communities don't need more people who remember failures. We need people who remember that gold is often just three feet away.

We're 4 days in. 86 to go. And we're digging until we hit gold.

Share this with someone who is going thru his difficult period.

Today was an eye-opener. đź‘€

We've been reading Think and Grow Rich for three days now, but I realized something big: the boys had NO IDEA who Napoleon Hill was talking about. Carnegie? Ford? These names meant nothing to them. And honestly? How can you be inspired by someone you don't even know?

So we stopped reading. We pulled up pictures. We told stories. We connected the dots between these historical giants and OUR lives today. Suddenly, it wasn't just a book—it was real people who started with nothing and built everything.

But here's the reality check: the energy dipped today. The hype from Day 1 and Day 2 faded a little. It showed in our engagement. But that's okay. That's normal. That's the "valley" before the breakthrough.

We're about to start Chapter 1 tomorrow. The foundation is laid. Now the real building begins.

And I'll be honest—what's keeping me locked in is my goal. I'm not just doing this for a paycheck. I'm building a business for a team member's mom. That's the mission. That's the "why" that gets me up when the energy is low.

But here's what hit me hard today: This is a problem in our underprivileged communities. Our kids know more about negative influences, gangsters, and street figures than they do about the people who actually changed the world for the better. They can name rappers and drug dealers, but they don't know Andrew Carnegie, Henry Ford, or Thomas Edison. That's not their fault—it's what they've been exposed to. But we're changing that. One day, one chapter, one legend at a time.

Let's go. Chapter 1 awaits.
