🌍✨ AFSA was represented by our CEO Muzi Manzi at this year’s CRU World Aluminium Summit from 12 – 14 May 2026 in London. The 2026 event, co‑hosted by the International Aluminium Institute and Aluminium Stewardship Initiative, marked 31 years of this prestigious gathering of global aluminium leaders, stakeholders, suppliers, and policymakers.

The Summit served as an invaluable platform for engaging and sharing insights on critical themes shaping the industry’s future. This year’s major topics included:

- Sustainability and circularity in aluminium production
- Supply chain resilience and responsible sourcing
- Climate transition pathways and CBAM implementation
- Global trade, geopolitics, and competitiveness in the energy transition

✨ On 16 & 17 March, AFSA had the honor of joining South32 Hillside Aluminium at their exhibition stand during the Proudly SA Buy Local Summit & Expo.

We were privileged to hear from Mr. Noel Pillay, COO of South32, who emphasized the importance of aligning with government’s beneficiation agenda and investing in infrastructure to enable the downstream aluminium industry.

From pioneering the transportation of liquid metal with purpose-built trucks, to building dedicated road infrastructure in Richards Bay, South32 has shown true commitment to making downstream processes more efficient, competitive, and localized.

As Mr. Pillay highlighted, this investment not only supports industries like automotive manufacturing through rim alloy products, but also strengthens partnerships with companies such as Hulamin ensuring that aluminium beneficiation drives sustainable growth right here at home.
