REAL WORK: What Was Hiding Behind the Hose Reel?
The hose reel looked fine. The pipework behind it told a very different story.
During inspection and rectification work, NWA Fire Solutions uncovered severely deteriorated and corroded fire hose reel pipework.
From the outside, there was very little indication of just how badly the pipe had deteriorated. Once exposed and removed, the extent of the corrosion became clear.
The photographs and videos shown here are from actual work carried out by NWA Fire Solutions — not stock images and not staged examples.
Why this matters
A fire hose reel is only as reliable as the water supply feeding it.
Severely corroded or deteriorated pipework can result in:
Reduced internal pipe diameter and restricted water flow
Low pressure at the hose reel
Rust, scale and debris entering the water supply
Pinhole leaks or sudden pipe failure
Complete failure of the hose reel when it is needed during a fire
A hose reel can be mounted correctly, serviced and appear completely normal — while the concealed pipework supplying it is already badly compromised.
What NWA Fire Solutions Did
The defective pipework was identified, removed and replaced with suitable new pipework and fittings as part of the rectification process.
Our approach is not simply to service the equipment that can be seen.
We look at the complete fire-protection system.
Where there are signs of poor pressure, corrosion, ageing pipework, previous alterations or questionable installations, we investigate the cause and recommend the necessary corrective action.
The Difference Between “Serviced” and “Ready for an Emergency”
A service label does not make a fire-protection system reliable.
Fire equipment must have a dependable water supply and correctly installed pipework behind it if it is expected to perform when lives and property are at risk.
Find it. Fix it. Trust it.
