Humanoid robots are currently all the rage. They run marathons and dance the moonwalk to Michael Jackson. In practical industrial applications, however, their use fails mainly due to their costs. This is precisely where igus comes into play with its cost-effective humanoid Iggy Rob robots. Having already introduced the Iggy Rob Industrial for production environments in 2025, the company is now expanding the platform with a new variant: the Iggy Rob Home starting at R1 million. With the new model, igus is transferring the existing platform concept to the service and household sector for the first time. Development and production are carried out entirely in Germany – from mechanics to electronics to software.

Low maintenance lifts

Three massive scissor lifts destined for the timber industry capable of handling up to 40 tonnes per lift have operated flawlessly for more than 5 years thanks to solid engineering and polymer bearings from igus. The lifts were engineered by REV Designs for harsh, high dust sawmilling environments where the equipment is pushed hard and uptime is critical. Founder and chief designer Ricardo Viljoen made a key engineering decision to move away from greased steel bearings and fully adopt igus high-performance polymer bearings across the key pivot points of the new lifts.
