ESKOM UPDATE:
HEMEL-EN-AARDE VALLEY
15 June 2026

Eskom has reported another incident of cable theft in the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley this morning, with approximately 15 spans of copper conductor stolen.

According to Eskom's Sector Manager, repair work that was scheduled to be completed today has been significantly impacted by the latest theft.

As a result, Eskom will unfortunately not be able to complete the repairs as planned.

At this stage, Eskom has not provided a new estimated time of restoration (ETR) for customers who remain without electricity.

Meter Box Lid Replacement

The damaged meter box lid was replaced with a custom-manufactured stainless steel lid.

The new lid was manufactured and supplied by Michelle Pluhar Swart – R-Tac Stainless steel.
The stainless steel construction ensures improved resistance to corrosion, weather conditions, and general wear, resulting in an everlasting and low-maintenance installation.
