This , we stand with everyone touched by lung cancer — Cancer is deeply personal, but prevention is something we can all play a part in. The WHO classifies outdoor air pollution and fine particulate matter as known causes of cancer. Every day, our work monitoring and helping reduce harmful emissions is, in a small way, about protecting the health of the communities we live in. Clean air is cancer prevention too.

Why are sunrises and sunsets red and orange?
It's due to Rayleigh scattering. When sunlight travels through a long, low angle of atmosphere (as it does at sunrise/sunset), shorter blue wavelengths scatter away, leaving the longer red and orange wavelengths to dominate what we see.
Fine particulates — PM2.5, PM10, aerosols, smoke, dust, sulphate particles — intensify and deepen the red/orange effect significantly. They scatter and absorb light in ways that:
• Make the colours more vivid and saturated
• Extend the coloured glow higher into the sky
• Produce hazy, milky, or brownish-red tones rather than a clean orange
