On Durban's Berea ridge, a significant new landmark in higher education is steadily taking shape. Enza Construction continues to make strong progress on the Durban University of Technology's flagship Administration Building, with the project now transitioning from structural works into the final stages of fit-out and finishing.
The reinforced concrete structure has been completed, while the building's face brick façade continues to advance in line with programme milestones.

Installation of shopfront glazing and aluminium louvres is underway, alongside drywall partitioning, first-fix mechanical, electrical and plumbing services, and a range of interior finishes including flooring, ceilings and joinery. These works signal the project's progression toward commissioning and eventual handover. Designed as a purpose-built executive and administrative hub, the facility will provide modern, functional spaces that support the University's operational and leadership requirements.

The ground floor will feature a double-volume reception area and boardrooms, while the upper levels will accommodate key administrative departments, including the Registrar, Corporate Affairs, Legal Services, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor and the Vice-Chancellor.Beyond the physical infrastructure, the project continues to deliver meaningful socio-economic impact. To date, 117 local community members have been employed on site, while 70% of subcontract packages have been awarded to local enterprises through a structured Community Participation Plan. These outcomes reflect Enza Construction's commitment to creating sustainable opportunities and supporting inclusive economic growth in the communities where we operate.

As the project advances toward completion, Enza Construction remains focused on delivering quality, programme certainty and long-term value for our client and stakeholders. We Believe in Building Communities.

At Enza Construction, every project we undertake is anchored in a single conviction: We Believe in Building Communities. Hluma Studios, our flagship student accommodation development at the University of KwaZulu-Natal's Howard College precinct, is a powerful expression of that belief in action.

Construction is advancing decisively. The concrete superstructure is approaching completion, wet trades are now underway on the fourth floor, and our teams have commenced snagging on the lower levels, a clear signal that this landmark development is on track for handover in November 2026.

Once complete, Hluma Studios will deliver 2,500 student beds across 13 purpose-built blocks, directly addressing one of the most pressing student accommodation shortages in the eThekwini region and setting a new benchmark for quality, safety and dignity in student living.

Beyond the bricks and mortar, the project is generating tangible socio-economic value, including 121 local employees drawn from the surrounding communities of Berea, Glenwood, Cato Crest and Manor Gardens. Through our dedicated Enterprise & Supplier Development programme, local SMMEs are being equipped with the skills, mentorship and access required to participate meaningfully in the built-environment economy long after our cranes have left the skyline.

Hluma Studios is more than a residence. It is a catalyst for opportunity, a partnership with the communities that host us, and a lasting contribution to the future of higher education in KwaZulu-Natal.

Enza Construction was proud to participate in the recent roundtable discussion hosted by BDO South Africa in partnership with the Women's Property Network (WPN), held at The Saxon Hotel in Sandhurst, Johannesburg.

Representing Enza Construction were Navisha Mitoo, Group HR & Marketing Director, and Andiswa Mfuku, Group Commercial Director, two leaders who continue to shape the way we build, lead and deliver value across the built environment.

The conversation, "Building What Lasts: Women, Property and the Future We're Creating," explored how women in the property sector are driving sustainable, resilient communities through deliberate leadership and considered decision-making. The dialogue reinforced a truth that sits at the heart of our business: enduring infrastructure is the product of diverse perspectives, principled leadership and a long-term view of impact.

Established in 2000, the WPN remains a vital platform for advancing women across South Africa's commercial property industry through mentorship, education, bursary funding and meaningful networking. We commend the WPN and BDO for convening a forum that elevates the voices shaping the future of our sector.

At Enza Construction, we remain committed to fostering inclusive leadership, championing equity in the built environment and building infrastructure that stands the test of time, for people, for business and for communities.

The future of Limpopo's healthcare infrastructure continues to take shape within the Peter Mokaba Precinct in Polokwane, as the Limpopo Academic Hospital development advances steadily through its construction programme.

On Friday, 22 May 2026, Enza Construction hosted a high-level delegation at the project site as part of its ongoing stakeholder engagement programme. The delegation was led by the MEC for Health, Ms Dieketseng Mashego, representing the Honourable Premier, and was accompanied by the Executive Mayor of Polokwane Municipality, Cllr Makoro John Mpe, the Executive Mayor of Capricorn District Municipality, Cllr Mamedupi Teffo, the leadership of the Development Bank of Southern Africa (DBSA), and the Principal Agent team.

The site visit provided the delegation with a comprehensive overview of construction progress achieved since the sod-turning ceremony held in July 2023. The project team presented the key works packages completed to date, including substructure and superstructure progress, services installation, and the sequencing of the remaining works programme. The engagement further afforded principals an opportunity to assess on-site health and safety performance, quality assurance protocols, and the coordinated delivery model underpinning this complex healthcare facility.

Speaking during the walkabout, Executive Mayor Mpe acknowledged the catalytic socio-economic impact of the development on the local construction value chain and broader regional economy.

"We are particularly encouraged by the massive economic spin-offs associated with this development, including the creation of approximately 2,400 jobs during the construction phase and over 1,000 permanent jobs once the hospital is completed and fully operational. This is the kind of infrastructure-led development that changes lives and strengthens local economies. Indeed, history reminds us that we stood here on Tuesday, 18 July 2023, to turn the sod for this project. Three years later, we return to witness visible progress and tangible delivery." — Executive Mayor Cllr Makoro John Mpe

The visit reaffirmed the strength of the collaboration between the client body, funders, the professional team and the contractor, a partnership that continues to underpin programme certainty and quality delivery on this landmark project.

As works progress towards practical completion, Enza Construction remains committed to delivering social infrastructure of enduring quality; infrastructure that will enable the provision of advanced healthcare services, support local enterprise development and contribute meaningfully to the transformation of the built environment in Limpopo because we believe in Building Communities.

At Enza Construction, we remain committed to delivering infrastructure that advances education, innovation and sustainable community development across South Africa.

Construction of the new UNISA Nelspruit Learner Centre in Valencia, Mbombela, is progressing well and remains on programme. The roof structure is nearing completion, while internal wet trades continue to advance steadily, with this phase scheduled for completion in July 2026.

Once completed, the facility will provide UNISA students and staff with modern, purpose-built spaces designed to support accessible and future-focused learning. The centre will include lecture halls, computer laboratories, administrative offices and a library, creating an environment that enhances both academic engagement and operational efficiency.

The design-and-construct project commenced in January 2025, with on-site platform works for the main building starting in July 2025. Finishing trades commenced in February 2026, with overall project completion targeted for October 2026.

Through projects such as these, Enza Construction continues to play a meaningful role in developing infrastructure that empowers communities and contributes to the advancement of education in South Africa aligning with Enza Construction’s vision of Building Communities.
