Let's clear the air before things get dry πŸ˜‰

Just because a coating feels dry doesn't mean it's ready for full use.

Drying and curing are two different stages. While the surface may no longer be tacky, the coating is often still undergoing chemical changes that give it its final hardness, durability and chemical resistance.

Rushing the process can compromise the finish and reduce the lifespan of the coating.

Patience isn't just a virtue, it's part of a quality paint job.

A stronger industry is built when businesses have a seat at the table.

Through the South African Retail Hardware & Paint Employers Association (SARHPEA), SAPMA is helping organise South Africa's wholesale and retail coatings sector to strengthen industry representation and support effective collective bargaining.

The goal is to establish a Bargaining Council for the retail sector, enabling employers and employees to work together on wages and conditions of employment, rather than relying on government-imposed sectoral determinations.

SARHPEA also provides a platform for business and labour to collaborate on important industry matters, including the development of Employment Equity Profiles that reflect the realities of the sector and align with South Africa's Economically Active Population (EAP).

By participating in a unified industry body, businesses can help shape the policies and decisions that will influence employment, promotion, and the future of the retail paint and hardware sector.

Coatings For Africa 2026 may have come to a close, but its impact continues to be felt across the industry.

This year's exhibition brought together 2,582 unique attendees from 43 countries, alongside 146 exhibitors from 12 countries, creating three days of collaboration, innovation, knowledge sharing and meaningful business connections.

From the busy exhibition floor to the engaging ChemTalks sessions, the event once again demonstrated the strength and resilience of Southern Africa's paint and coatings industry.

As SAPMA Executive Director, Tara Benn, reflected:
"Coatings For Africa is an invaluable event for SAPMA, bringing together manufacturers, suppliers, regulators and industry stakeholders under one roof. It offers excellent networking opportunities, strengthens industry collaboration and promotes compliance and knowledge sharing."

A sincere thank you to every exhibitor, visitor, speaker, sponsor, partner and organiser who contributed to the success of Coatings For Africa 2026. Together, we celebrated innovation, strengthened industry relationships and helped shape the future of the coatings sector.

Until next time - we'll see you at Coatings For Africa 2028.

What an incredible three days at Coatings For Africa 2026! πŸ‘

From 24-26 June at the Sandton Convention Centre, the paint and coatings industry came together to connect, collaborate and showcase the innovation driving our sector forward.

As the official supporting association, SAPMA was proud to be part of an event that brought together manufacturers, suppliers, industry professionals and partners from across the value chain. It was a fantastic opportunity to share knowledge, strengthen relationships and celebrate the future of the coatings industry.

This video takes us back to Day 1, where the excitement began and the exhibition officially opened.

Thank you to everyone who visited the SAPMA stand, attended the event and contributed to making Coatings For Africa 2026 such a memorable success. We look forward to continuing the conversations and building on the momentum created over these three inspiring days.

See you in 2028!
