Ah, the solopreneur life!
You know, there comes a time when the charm of being your own boss wears thin, thinner than the soles of my last year's sneakers. I was there, on the brink, ready to toss in the towel. Even had it crumpled in my fist.
Then, one evening, as I was rummaging through my desk for the least chewed-up pen, my journal popped out. Dusty, a bit like my dreams at the moment. I flipped it open, and there it was, my 'WHY' staring back at me. It was like bumping into an old friend who saw you through the thick and thin of your lousy college band phase.
I made this decision for a reason. I wanted to give my kids and family a better life, to create a legacy they could proudly look back on and say, "That's my dad!"
So what did I do? I slapped my cheeks, real cinematic-like. Felt like the hero in one of those underdog movies. I put on my big boy pantsβone leg at a time, mind you, because we're all about authenticity hereβand doubled down.
And let me tell you, the road was bumpy. Had more twists than a pretzel factory. But the day I landed my first client? I experienced a moment of pure joy while working in my makeshift office, which I cleverly transformed from a laundry space. There might've been a few fistpumps.
The lesson? Stick to your guns, no matter what! Even when the bank account is in overdraft and the Wi-Fi's on the fritz. Because when you strike gold, it's not just the bank balance that gets a lift. When everyone else doubted you and said you were crazy for taking such a massive risk, it's that little voice inside you saying, "I told you so".
Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to secure my next ten clients as 2024 approaches.
