π¨ Job Opportunity: Temporary Legal Practitioner (6 Months)
The Mine Health and Safety Council (MHSC) is seeking to appoint a qualified and experienced Legal Practitioner for a 6-month contract to support its Legal, Risk and Compliance functions.
π About MHSC
The Mine Health and Safety Council is a national public entity mandated to advise the Minister of Mineral and Petroleum Resources on occupational health and safety in the mining sector.
π Role Overview
You will provide legal support across the organisation, including:
Drafting, reviewing, and vetting contracts, SLAs, and MOUs
Conducting legal research and preparing legal opinions
Supporting litigation management and external attorneys
Reviewing policies and ensuring regulatory compliance
Assisting with labour-related matters and risk registers
Preparing reports and compliance submissions

Minimum Requirements
LLB Degree
Admitted Attorney/Advocate of the High Court
3β5 years post-admission experience (public sector preferred)
Experience in legal drafting, contracts, and policies (advantageous)

6 months (temporary position)
