A common misconception? Bigger isn't always better.👇
When selecting an MCB, many people focus on the current rating, but one of the most important specifications is often overlooked: the tripping curve.
Not all electrical loads behave the same, which is why there are different MCB curve types:
👉 Type B for residential and low-surge circuits.
👉 Type C for commercial applications and small motors.
👉 Type D for heavy industrial equipment with high start-up currents.

The Most Important System Nobody Talks About: 👉Earthing
Every data centre, hospital, and industrial plant has one thing in common, a system that does nothing, until everything goes wrong.
What earthing actually does?🤔
When a fault occurs, current needs somewhere to go. A well-designed earthing system provides that path, low-resistance, deliberate, and fast enough to trigger protective devices before voltage builds to dangerous levels. Without it, that fault energy doesn't disappear. It finds another path. Sometimes through equipment. Sometimes through a person.

Poor earthing can lead to dangerous touch voltages, unreliable fault clearing, and equipment damage.

Here's what split metering actually handles across three customer types:
➡️1. Residential: Prepaid split meters apply inclining block tariffs (IBT), where higher consumption means higher rates. Customers gain transparency and control by monitoring usage through the Customer Interface Unit (CIU).
➡️2. Commercial: Businesses often face time-of-use tariffs (TOU), with peak, standard, and off-peak rates. Split metering ensures precise billing and helps companies shift loads to reduce costs.
➡️3. Industrial: Large users are billed on demand charges (kVA) plus energy consumed. Split metering supports load profiling and power quality monitoring, ensuring correct demand charges and protecting utility revenue.

By separating the metering unit from the customer interface, split metering strengthens revenue protection, reduces tampering, and aligns customer behaviour with fair tariff structures.
