Here’s what to do to prevent flood lights to burn off.

*1. Make sure it can breathe*
- Mount it on metal, not wood or plastic. The black casing is a heatsink - it needs to dump heat into the air.
- Don’t bury it in a tight box or point it straight up where hot air gets trapped.
- Leave space around it so air can flow.

*2. Keep water out*
- Check the rubber seal around the glass and the cable gland where the wire goes in. That’s where water usually gets in.
- If you see cracks in the seal or the silicone looks old, re-seal it with outdoor silicone.
- Make sure it’s mounted with the cable pointing down so water doesn’t run into it.

*3. Use proper power*
- Most of these are 220-240V AC. Don’t run them off unstable power or directly off a car battery/inverter without the right driver.
- If your area has frequent surges, add a surge protector on the line. Surges are a top reason LED drivers burn out.

*4. Don’t run it 24/7 unless it’s rated for it*
- Cheap floodlights overheat if left on all day. If you need it on long hours, get one rated IP65+ and 30,000+ hours.
- Use a timer or photocell so it only runs at night.

*5. Check the wiring*
- Loose or corroded connections cause arcing and heat, which burns the driver. Make sure the wire nuts/terminals are tight and waterproof.

If yours already looks dim, flickers, or only half the LEDs light up, the driver is likely failing. You can’t really fix that - you replace the whole unit.
