Our first project was the oversight of the construction of a double garage. Since then we have grown to the stage where we have a constant flow of orders and successfully complete projects of the value ranging from R50 000 to in excess of R2 million. I enjoy seeing the end results and the smile on the client’s face when they examine the completed work. This is where our competitive advantage lies,

in providing excellent quality work and high class service. This drive for quality begins when taking on new clients. Any new project begins with a series of consultations to understand the deeper needs of the client. It is not about the construction work, it is more about satisfying the needs of the living space of the client. As a company we take the pain out of building and ensure a smooth transformation of the living space. After all, the client has their own life to live, the last thing they need to do is worry about the construction. So, I tapped into my resources and experience of project management, together with many years of being in the retail business, and have developed a team, each member which has specific skills to provide the required level of service and delivery. The challenge is to transfer the desire for excellence to this team. Martial Building Designs employs eight permanent staff and anything up to 30 contract workers, depending on the nature and size of the project. The stability in our work force which arises from mutual respect, leads to the percolation of my values into their work ethic. Before you know it, we are functioning as a team and getting satisfaction from the quality of our work and service. Our core business is residential building and alterations. We routinely transform kitchens, bathrooms and entertainment areas—all very personal spaces. We also specialise in reinforced concrete and tiled roofs. The company is registered with the National Home Builders Registration Council (NHBRC) and all work complies with the National Building Regulations. This ensures a high and consistent quality of workmanship. Each project is treated as a special project with consistent monitoring of quality. Because we are dealing with peoples’ private space, it is important that all our employees are honest and reliable. This core value is reinforced at every possible opportunity. The services offered by the company include plumbing, electrical, specialist contractors, etcetera as well as the co-ordination of all these activities to meet the clients’ specific needs. In other words, a “Turn–Key” operation, thus providing the client with peace of mind.
