Peter Rich Architects A Johannesburg-based architecture practice that delivers internationally acclaimed museums, cultural centres, housing, and sustainable neighbourhoods.

Thank you to the Shenzhen-Hong Kong 10th Bi-City Biennale of Urbanism/Architecture for inviting us to exhibit the Alexandra Heritage Centre. Responding to this year’s theme, “City Theatre,” our stand brings a taste of Joburg township culture to the Biennale.

The design of the exhibition stand draws inspiration from two key references:

• Chinese folding screens. Layered, painted panels that structure interior space.
• Balustrade detailing from the Alexandra Heritage Centre, reinterpreted as an exhibition system.

Also sharing a few moments from the opening ceremony and fellow exhibitors.

Great to be back in China and looking forward to exploring vibrant Shenzhen.

Proud to be invited to be part of the Biennale Architettura 2025, curated by Carlo Ratti.

The Mapungubwe Interpretation Centre is featuring in the Intelligens. Natural. Artificial. Collective, which celebrates transformative projects from the past 50 years.

This is the second time time we’re exhibiting in the Arsenale and it’s great to be back in Venice!

The exhibition runs from 10 May to 23 November 2025.
