Certified to Perform. Proven to Deliver.
Tembo Heavy Lift & Transport is proud to reaffirm its SANS 1395-1:2019 certification, confirming full compliance with one of the industry’s most demanding standards through to March 2029.

In heavy lift and specialised transport, safety, quality, and operational control are not optional - they are engineered into every move. This milestone reinforces the strength of our integrated ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 framework, ensuring SHEQ remains embedded across every project we deliver.

As our SHEQ Executive, Malambula Madida, puts it: “True excellence lies in consistency. Certification is a reflection of the systems we build, but our strength comes from the people who bring those systems to life every single day.”

We’re proud of this achievement, but we're more proud of the people behind it who continue to set the benchmark for safe, disciplined heavy lifting and transportation across Africa.

2,900 km across three countries. One coordinated heavy-haul operation.
Tembo has successfully mobilised a complex cross-border transport from Kliprivier, South Africa to Pemba, Mozambique; moving critical lifting equipment to support upcoming operations in the region.

The convoy includes an 80-ton Faun ATF80-4 all-terrain crane, a 60-ton Terex A600 rough-terrain crane, a rigging container, and counterweights - all transported using a Volvo FH64, Volvo 610 trucks, and Nooteboom multi-axle trailers configured for stability and control over long-distance abnormal loads.

Covering nearly 2,900 km across South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Mozambique, the route demands disciplined preparation, reliable equipment, and experienced crews capable of managing steep gradients, challenging road conditions, and cross-border logistics.

Projects like this highlight where Tembo excels: engineering the move, preparing the fleet, and executing complex heavy transport across Africa with confidence.

Engineered relocation. Controlled ex*****on. Zero surprises.
Tembo was recently entrusted by AUREX with the full relocation of a Jeffery stacker - delivering a turnkey heavy-lift and abnormal transport solution from engineered study through to final placement.

The critical lifts were executed using our LR1350 crawler crane, while a Volvo 610 paired with Nooteboom 8-axle and Broshuis 6-axle trailers managed the transport of stacker structures, conveyors, and transfer assemblies across the ash plant. Long conveyor sections, steep inclines, restricted plant access; each phase required disciplined control and precise coordination.

Backed by detailed, project-specific rigging studies, our team managed the full scope:

• Decommissioning and lifting stacker sections from foundations
• Controlled slewing and tailing operations
• Stable loading and shuttling within the plant
• Re-installation and final positioning at the new location

Engineering-led planning ensured predictable movements, clear communication, and safe ex*****on throughout - no reactive problem-solving, just controlled delivery.

This project reflects what defines Tembo: the integration of engineering depth, specialised equipment, and experienced crews to execute complex plant relocations safely and efficiently in demanding industrial environments.

See the precision behind the move.
Tembo recently completed the successful transport of a 100-ton commercial fishing vessel from Vredenburg to St Helena in South Africa.

Moving a vessel standing 11.7 m high over a 20 km route is never just about horsepower. It’s about engineered planning, route analysis, overhead line management (132 kVA clearances), controlled steering through tight radii, and disciplined communication between pull and push operators.

For this move, the combination of a 774 heavy-duty 8×8 pull truck, 16-axle 4.3 m Goldhofer trailer, and 1380 heavy-duty 8×6 push truck ensured full control from departure to final positioning.

The result: placement within 10 mm of target, two days saved on programme, and an early launch on 4 February.

Heavy marine transport at this level demands more than equipment - it demands integration, experience, and ex*****on under pressure. The footage highlights the coordination and control required when margins for error simply don’t exist.

100-tonne vessel. Millimetre precision. Zero margin for error.
A few weeks ago, Tembo successfully delivered a 100-ton commercial fishing vessel for Sachal Shipyards, transporting it around 20km from Vredenburg to St Helena in South Africa ahead of schedule for launch.

At 11.7 m high, the move demanded disciplined engineering and flawless ex*****on - including managing clearance beneath 132 kVA overhead lines and negotiating multiple tight turns along the route. Using a 774 heavy-duty 8×8 pull truck, a 16-axle, 4.3 m-wide Goldhofer trailer, and a 1380 heavy-duty 8×6 push truck, the team professionally controlled the move from start to finish.

The vessel was positioned within a mere 10 mm of target, saving the client two full days and enabling a successful early launch on 4th February.

This is specialist transport at its sharp end - where planning, equipment selection, and experienced operators come together to deliver predictable outcomes on the most complex heavy marine transportation.

A Decade of Discipline, Skill, and Safe Ex*****on

At Tembo, consistent delivery on complex work is built by people who lead through action. Stanley Buhle Malinga is one of those professionals.

Stanley joined Tembo in 2014 as a Rigging Supervisor on the Sasol Secunda Tank Replacement Project. This was his first exposure to heavy lifting and specialised transport, and it was delivered safely and without delay. From the outset, his technical discipline and work ethic set him apart, quickly earning him responsibility on increasingly complex scopes.

Over the past decade, Stanley has developed deep expertise across jack-and-slide operations and advanced 4-PLS lifting systems, contributing to major heavy-lift projects including waste heat boilers, column replacements, refinery upgrades, exchanger installations, steam-line shutdowns, large plant moves, and complex transport operations.

In 2025, he played a key role at Kusile Power Station, safely executing the removal of the classifier top section and bottom heat exchanger using a 2-PLS system - a demanding operation requiring absolute precision and control.

Stanley’s leadership reflects what matters most in our industry: technical depth, calm ex*****on, and safety that is built into every decision. A quiet professional who protects assets, supports clients, and strengthens teams through example.

We’re proud to recognise ten years of contribution, and the standard Stanley continues to set across Tembo projects.

More Ground. Faster Ex*****on. Tembo now in Kliprivier.
Tembo Heavy Lift & Transport has opened a new operational yard in Kliprivier, expanding our footprint in Gauteng and strengthening ex*****on capability across South Africa.

Every project presents its own challenge. The load may be fixed, but the solution never is. With the additional space in Kliprivier, our teams can plan, stage, and integrate the right approach before work reaches site - from specialised transport to final placement using gantries, SPMTs, crawler cranes (single or tandem), skidding, or a controlled combination of methods.

We don’t sell equipment. We engineer outcomes; selecting and integrating the safest, most efficient way to move, lift, and place critical assets end to end. It’s this objective, engineering-led approach, and our ability to combine skills, experience, and equipment into a single controlled ex*****on, that turns one impossible load into one integrated solution. One Tembo.
