What to expect when going solar.

With solar installations in South Africa booming and government introducing tax incentives, it is important that you know what to expect before going solar. This will help you to be more prepared and avoid costly errors

Expect your electricity bill to decrease:

Depending on size, a solar energy system can decrease the electricity bill of a household by 50 to 90 percent. These savings come through purchasing less or no electricity, avoiding the increase in electricity tariffs, and having electricity intensive systems such as geysers and pool pumps running on solar.

Expect to have low energy days:

Rain, snow, overcast and partly cloudy weather are all impediments to your solar panels receiving sunlight. Expect a 25% decrease in energy production on these days. There can also be efficiency loss through dirt on the panels from the trees, birds, rain and dust. They should be cleaned occasionally
