ALTERATION & ADDITION
We removed the existing skylights and converted the openings to dormer windows enhancing the client’s view of the Knysna Heads, in addition, installed a mezzanine floor above the entrance hall/staircase. A sunroom was also added on, to allow the client to enjoy the view and protect their entertainment area from the prevailing wind.

NEW DECKING
Gibb Construction recently undertook the replacement of an existing 30m2 timber balcony including support work, balustrading, and staircase. The timber used is Grappa, the decking was secured making use of a "concealed fastening system". The balustrading stainless steel post caps and cabling was supplied and installed by Maatech. In addition, a 90m2 deck surrounding the existing swimming pool was constructed together with a fire pit and the enclosure of water tanks with latte.

Gibb Construction recently undertook the upgrading of the Lindsay Castle in Noetzie, the scope of works involved removing and safe disposal of the existing asbestos cement roof sheeting and replacing it with a combination of marine ply sheeting covered by a Carlisle EPDM Rubber Membrane waterproofing layer.

A section of the roof was converted into a viewing deck which was constructed out of conventional rib and block, waterproofed with a layer of Carlisle EPDM Rubber Membrane which was tiled to allow pedestrian access.

Associated access staircases/balustrading and timber decks were constructed. All the existing windows and doors were removed and replaced.

The entire electrical installation was replaced and the solar system upgraded/replaced and relocated. The water reticulation system together with the gas water heating system was upgraded and replaced. Other smaller remedial works were also undertaken to the kitchen and back of house areas.

The project was challenging in that access is restricted and all materials and supplies had to be physically carried up and down a 100 step staircase!
