THK Construction new line of Alternative Building Methods.
Overview of Building Method for Riverside Village, Kommetjie.
We are excited to share with you some key points about the innovative construction method used for this home, known as the Ikhaya Futurehouse Building System.
Below are the essential highlights of this advanced building technique:
1. Construction Materials: The Ikhaya Futurehouse system uses factory-produced wall panels with a core of expanded polystyrene (EPS) that is both lightweight and durable. These panels are reinforced with galvanised steel mesh on both sides and finished on site with a high strength mortar mix (14MPA), providing excellent structural integrity.
2. Sound and Thermal Insulation: The EPS core offers superior thermal insulation, helping to maintain a comfortable indoor temperature year-round while reducing energy costs. Additionally, the panels provide significant sound insulation, ensuring a quiet and peaceful living environment.
3. Strength and Durability: The walls are finished with a 35 mm thick layer of spray-applied structural plaster (Gunite) on both sides, making the structure robust and resistant to various environmental factors. This construction method meets and exceeds the standards set by Agrément South Africa, ensuring long-lasting durability.
4. Eco-friendly and Efficient: The Ikhaya Futurehouse system uses eco-friendly materials and is lighter than conventional building methods, reducing the overall environmental impact.
5. Compliance and Certification: The system is fully compliant with South African National Standards (SANS) and has been rigorously tested for quality and performance. It holds a valid Agrément Certificate (2018/575) and is an approved and recommended system by the National Home Builders Registration Council (NHBRC).
6. Registered System Installer: THK Construction are the registered installer of the Ikhaya Futurehouse system in the Western Cape.
We are exited to share our first successful project with you!!
