Every business has a history. DRAM’s starts with family.

In 1988, Martin and Renee Gossayn started Renmar as a paint and chemicals retailer with a small contracting team. A request from a customer to take on a structural steel coating job opened the door to a new opportunity. As demand grew, so did the focus on corrosion protection.

In 1999, DRAM was born. Even the name carries the family legacy: D for Donna and Dean, R for Renee, A for Alex and M for Martin.

What began with Martin, Renee and four painters has grown into a team of almost 300 people, servicing clients nationwide and working across seven African countries over the course of DRAM’s history.

The business has evolved too. From structural steel coatings, DRAM expanded into turnkey corrosion protection, specifications, post-fabrication priming, sandblasting and on-site coatings. Fireproofing followed in 2012, with turnkey industrial roofing added in 2022.

Through every stage of that growth, one thing has remained constant: DRAM is a family-run business built on high morals, strong ethics, quality workmanship and delivering value to its clients.

Perhaps the strongest reflection of that legacy is that the customer who gave DRAM its first structural steel coating opportunity remains a loyal client today.

This Heritage Day, we celebrate the family who started DRAM, the people who have built it alongside them, and the values that continue to shape where the business goes next.
