Good weather, good company and a great cause made it a day to remember. Our team set up under the CSS gazebo on the course, met the golfers as they teed off, and handed out our prizes for the day.

Every shutdown contains tasks that repeat turnaround after turnaround — 𝐛𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐬, 𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐫 𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬, 𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐨𝐫 𝐬𝐰𝐚𝐩𝐬 — and these are exactly where small design improvements compound.

𝐒𝐌𝐄𝐃 (𝐒𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐞-𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐮𝐭𝐞 𝐄𝐱𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐃𝐢𝐞𝐬) applies the same logic to a mining shutdown: separate the steps that genuinely require the plant to be stopped from the steps that could be done in parallel or beforehand, then redesign around that split.
