Ken Westermeyer was the main man behind Transaxle Gearbox and Diff Specialists and while the name may be new to you, the company is well established. We can promise you that you`ve seen some of his work in action, not only in the rally field, but tearing down the drag strip and running wild on the track. The company opened its doors for the first time in 1991 by Ken, and management thereof has si
nce been assumed by his son, Wayne. Both share a passion for this particular field of automotive engineering. In 1994 Transaxle moved to bigger premises which are currently still occupied by one section of the company. In 1996 due to the growth and spectrum of services offered by the company, Transaxle took over an adjoining factory which is the current assembling area. In 1999 Transaxle bought out a prop-shaft re-manufacture company and merged it with Transaxle
In 2003 Transaxle started manufacturing gears, shafts and limited slip differentials for various race cars. As a result the company is now tasked with the manufacturing of certain commercial parts that are used by most gearbox repairers countrywide. By 2006 the manufacturing department had grown to such an extent that it could exist as an independent company. Thus Gear and Axle cc was created as this new manufacturing company. This company specialises in the manufacturing of various race car components, gears, shafts, limited slip differential and gearbox parts used for commercial application and by various racing teams such as Volkswagen Racing, Ford Racing, Class A and T Production Cars and Shelby Can Am Series. In 2014 it was time for a total rebrand of the business and the addition of a Marketing division and online presence to be able to reach a greater market. Thus M-TRAC was created, along with a website for the first time (www.m-trac.co.za), page ( M-TRAC), Twitter account ( ) and a personal Youtube account.
