I completed my BSc Honours in Quantity Surveying at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, in 2014.
In 2015, I lost my father. That same year, I never graduated.

I faced grief the best way I knew how—because there is no formula for how one should grieve.

In 2014, God blessed me with a daughter. We named her Kurhula, which means Peace.
She was an angel sent by God, a gentle push to work harder and keep going.

For nine years, I grieved my father—my hero.
He was the man who nurtured me and my siblings alongside my mother. He provided for us without fail.

From 2009, when the University of the Witwatersrand accepted me to further my studies, my father paid my fees from a mere policeman’s salary. I lived in university residence, eating breakfast, lunch, and supper at the dining hall—while my mother never worked.
We rode bicycles like other children.
We dressed like other children.

Yet my father was rich in faith, love, and belief.

He was the only man who looked at me and said:

“I bless you, my girl. Whatever you desire to become, I bless you. I believe in you, and I know you will make me and my First Lady proud.”

In 2015, I lost my father—my hero.

In 2023, I finally told the University of the Witwatersrand that I was ready to walk onto that stage and receive my Honours certificate.

Graduating with my mother and my daughter by my side—without my father—hurt deeply.
But after giving my life to God, I came to understand that everything happens for a reason.
I reminded myself that God will never place me in a situation He knows I cannot pull through.

My educational journey taught me this:
Whatever you face in life, take it as a page that must be part of your story—no matter how painful or challenging it may be.
Kneel down. Cry to the Lord.
He is a God who hears.

This BSc Honours in Quantity Surveying qualification, I dedicate to:
