Kudos to Section 14 of 1 Shaft's Mine Overseer, Jackson Ndabeni and his team.

For the second month in a row, the team has exceeded their call, with a massive 135% in stoping square metres for the month of June.

“Employees must come to work every shift for the benefit of safety and production, also to exercise their rights in terms of Section 22 and 23,’’ says Ndabeni.

Ndabeni praised his day and night shift Supervisors, Mr Nkoli (Ntate Mashoto) and Mr Ntela who he described as great leaders.

“With all the current COVID-19 regulations, we have adjusted to always putting health and safety first,’’ he added.

Congratulations to Section 25 of 1 Shaft, steered by Zondereinde's first female Mine Overseer, Sessy Sulman.

The hard-working team has surpassed their stoping square metres, reaching 117% for the month of June 2020.

“Although it's difficult adjusting to new systems of working, we are getting there, slowly but surely. We must all remember to adhere to COVID-19 regulations at all times," said Sulman.

“Wearing facemasks, sanitising and practising social distancing goes a long way and we must all play a part in flattening the curve,'' she added.

An epic victory for Section 15 of 1 Shaft as they swiftly claimed the top spot on the production chart.
The team exceeded their call with a whopping 167% for the month of June on stoping square meters. Mine Overseer, Hendrik Gonsalves spoke on the consistent hard work of the team amidst COVID-19.

“I would like to say thank you to my team for reaching call for the 2nd time and achieving 167%, that was a big performance from them. It makes me proud to be part of such winning combination and also thank you to my U/G man Mr Molatseli for his assistance,” he said.

He further mentioned that achieving this under COVID -19 circumstances required them to try their best to attain their goal.
“Let's all stay safe, wash our hands regularly, keep our social distance and wear our masks to fight the pandemic together.”

A NEW NORMAL AND INCREASED PRODUCTION

SECTION 13 EXCEEDS CALL

The everyday grind made certain that Section 13 of 1 Shaft exceeds their development call by an amazing 106% in June. Congratulations are in order Team!

Despite the fact that extra precaution needs to be taken during these trying times, the team continued to push for productivity. The length of the disruption is highly uncertain yet our teams are showing a remarkable response.

“I am very proud of the team, they are adapting very well and putting extra effort to make sure we exceed the call”, said the Mine Overseer, Henry Odendaal.

The pandemic is driving changes in a way the business is conducted and employees are encouraged to continue practising good health and safety.

SECTION 30 ON THE RISE WITH STOPING M²

INCREASED PRODUCTIVITY

A whole new world and Zondereinde Production Teams seem to be adjusting pretty well despite the unpredictable COVID-19. Well done to Section 30 for exceeding their call by an astonishing 138% for the month of June, closing the FY 19/20 with a bang.

“The key is to understand how the pandemic will require the mining industry to change in response to the broader disruptions and as a team we understood exactly what is required of us”, says the Mine Overseer, Johan Joubert.

These are really interesting times and our production teams are responding vigorously to the ‘new normal’.

For Mine Overseer, Lambert Smit from Section 21 of 1 Shaft, exceeding calls has always been a part of his team’s goal.

The team has exceeded their June call, reaching 128% in stoping square metres and 106% in square metres swept.

“I would like to thank the CEO, Mr Paul Dunne, Zondereinde’s General Manager, Mr Danny Gonsalves and their teams for safeguarding our health and safety during this COVID-19 pandemic, this is just one way for my team and I to show appreciation for the support they’ve been giving us,” says Smit.

Smit further expressed how his team has understood and always plan to adhere to all set COVID-19 regulations.

“I am so proud of my team, their positive attitude and dedication has led us to this moment, and we aim on continuously excelling,’’ he added.

A PROUD MOMENT FOR SECTION 32

BUILD A TRUST RELATIONSHIP

Inform, educate and let it be clear what is expected of the team to ensure productivity. After five years of trying, section 32 finally get it right and exceed the call by 106% in stoping square metres this June.

“I’m very proud of the team, they have put in a lot of effort to ensure victory in production. We have done it this month, and will do it again next month”, says the Mine Overseer, Jan Myburg.

The team hold meetings to educate and update employees on this pandemic, this is to make sure that they are aware and are able to continue working despite the challenges that comes with COVID-19.

“Since the lockdown, we haven’t had problems with absenteeism, therefore, teamwork is guaranteed”, Myburg added.

Northam Zondereinde's Mine Overseer, Louw de Beer and his Section 43 of 2 Shaft Team consistently push production excellence, and this month of June was no exception.

While adhering to the safety COVID-19 measures, the team exceeded their call in stoping square meters with 111%, for the second time in a row.

“On achieving call, it will always stay a team effort, my team is focused and their mindset stays on safety and then production will fall in place by itself,” said De Beer.
Furthermore, he mentioned that with the current pandemic the mine is changing.

“The important thing is to keep yourself safe and your fellow employees,“ he added.
