Some clocks are small enough to sit on a mantelpiece, while others keep time for a whole city. Currently we are maintaining the Pietermaritzburg Town Hall Clock.

The skills for that work were learnt the long way. After my military service, I went to work for my father, R. G. Webber, learning the practical aspects of the trade while studying watch and clock making for 3 years through the British Horological Institute. In my final year, I specialised in clock work.

From an ornate gilt dial to a delicately decorated one, every clock that comes into our workshop gets the same care, backed by a full one-year guarantee on our craftsmanship. Call us on 083 660 7599 or email [email protected].

Cuckoo clocks have a character all of their own, with carved cases and a movement that does a lot more than just keep time. A workbench full of them is a familiar sight in our workshop.

About 30 years ago, I set up shop on my own, doing both watch and clock work. About 15 years ago, I decided to revert back to doing clocks only, so clocks get our full attention.

From cuckoo clocks to mantel and wall clocks, our workshop in Hayfields, Pietermaritzburg is fully equipped for general servicing, gear cutting and designing and replacing lost parts. Every repair carries our full one-year guarantee on craftsmanship. If a family cuckoo clock has gone quiet, call us on 083 660 7599.

Every repair that leaves our workshop comes with a full one-year guarantee. We guarantee our craftsmanship for one year, because we stand behind the work we do.

That craftsmanship comes from four generations of clockmaking in the Webber family and three years of studying watch and clock making through the British Horological Institute, specialising in clock work in the final year.

Whether your clock needs general servicing or a lost part designed and replaced, the work is done in our fully equipped workshop at 19 Dryden Rd, Hayfields, Pietermaritzburg. Mantel clocks like this one are a familiar sight on our benches. If your clock has stopped, or isn't keeping time the way it used to, call or email us to talk about the repair.

Behind the dial of every clock is a movement made up of wheels, pinions and small parts that all have to work together. When one of them is worn out or missing, the whole clock stops.

That is why our workshop is fully equipped to carry out virtually any manufacturing work needed in the clock repair business. Making balance staffs, gear cutting and designing and replacing lost parts are all part of the job, alongside the general servicing of clocks.

These photos show a little of that side of the work: the wheels of a movement laid out on the bench, the machinery used to make new parts and the magnification needed to fit them properly. Call us on 083 660 7599 to talk about your clock.

Clock making has been in the Webber family for over 100 years, and four generations of clockmaking and repair craftsmanship stand behind every clock that comes into our workshop.

It started with my grandfather, A. G. Webber, who learnt the trade from his uncle in the UK before coming out to South Africa in the early 1900s. Grandad's cousin, Gerald Webber, spent his entire life working in the Westclocks factory in England. My father, R. G. Webber, was born in South Africa and worked under my grandfather for many years.

After my military service, I went to work for my father, learning the practical aspects of the trade. More than a century on, that family trade is still going strong at 19 Dryden Rd, Hayfields, Pietermaritzburg.

Did you know your clock is more than just a timekeeper? For many families, the clock on the wall or the mantelpiece is part of the home itself, and when it stops, the house feels a little quieter.

Behind the dial, every clock depends on a movement that needs proper care to keep going. Weights, pendulum, wheels and the small parts in between all have to work together for a clock to keep good time.

Bring your clock in for expert repair. Our workshop at 19 Dryden Rd, Hayfields, Pietermaritzburg is fully equipped to carry out virtually any manufacturing work needed in the clock repair business, from general servicing of clocks to gear cutting and designing and replacing lost parts. Every repair comes with a full one-year guarantee on our craftsmanship. Call 083 660 7599 or email [email protected] to talk about yours.
