Retaining Wall Installation:

A common issue we come across is where pre-cast fencing has been installed to act as a Retaining Wall, which leads to movement and failure in the long term. This recent project we completed had the same symptoms of near failure where a pre-cast fenceline was trying to retain 1200mm of embankment. We remove the existing fenceline and installed a cost effective Retaining Wall. After that we installed the pre-cast fenceline back in place on top of the Retaining Wall. This system better serves the purpose of Retaining the embankment, allowing the fenceline to simply just be a fence.

Freight Elevator GB:

We have been quite preoccupied on the structural concrete for one of our recent projects. This project, we are carrying out the structural concrete and general building for a freight elevator access point from ground floor to first floor level.

We will be wrapping up the concrete works in the next couple of days. We will then commence the masonry work and finishing, in order for the mechanical and electrical installation teams to follow.

Property Boundary Wall:

We recently completed this project, where we installed a 200m property boundary wall around an existing development. The wall was split into 3600mm panels with reinforced and concrete infill columns.

This was a labour intensive project having to cart and work around existing infrastructure and neighbouring properties. We achieved a superb finished product!

Property Boundary Wall:

This is a recent project we have been dealing with, where we have been constructing a new property boundary wall.

We removed the existing pre-cast fence-line and are installing a reinforced block boundary wall. The tricky aspect with this project is limited access construction, where we are working around the property that is fully operational. This has called for labour intensive materials handling and carting, lucky the Demco team comes equipped with big muscles. 😉

We are coming to a completion period shortly, and will start focusing on finishes etc.

Civil Infrastructure Implementation:

During the course of last year we undertook this project, where an old heritage building was being revamped into a 3 star hotel/ bed and breakfast. From initial conception to final completion the scope of work increased majorly, due to having to instate complete new Infrastructure. This project entailed the following scopes:
- Storm water management Implementation
- Potable water reticulation networks
- Bulk fire fighting supply lines
- Bulk Electrical ducting
- Telecom/ intercom and Fibre ducting
- Waste water reticulation network
- Retaining Wall installations
- Complete pavement areas and layer works
- Pavement area furniture
- Municipal Infrastructure tie-in positioning

The tricky aspect of carrying out this project was dealing with all the additional scopes, allocating the additional scopes into sequence in order to avoid 'double jobs'. With all the implemented Infrastructure, we also had to make provision and accommodation for the new hotel building that will be built in the near future adjacent to the existing revamped building already in place.

The final product has been completed, where we have met all necessary criteria, ensuring our client will have a hassle free development for the decades to come.

Reinforced Concrete Retaining Wall:

A late completion post. Last year we had the privilege of carrying out this structural project, where our work reinstated a failed pavement section.

This project was labour intensive and took a lot of skill to get it done, due to limited access construction and continuous traffic control.

Once the project had been completed, everything was backfilled and the pavement area reinstated. Only a slither of the scope of work done by Demco Building & Civils will be noticed by the everyday user. Thats the thing about civil projects, majority of the work goes unnoticed after completion, but plays a critical role in the decades to follow.
