Statistics Indicate rebound in SA private sector investment for the construction industry.

JSE-listed construction and engineering group WBHO reported a rebound in private sector investment levels in South Africa and has grown its South Africa order book by 40% year on year in the year to end-June.

WBHO Group CEO Wolfgang Neff said the group’s South African order book grew to R11.85 billion at the end of June from R8.48 billion in June 2020 because of increased activity in the building division and a positive outlook for its roads and earthworks business.

WATCH: Engineers move 8,000-tonne bridge 24m sideways in Western Cape

The Western Cape town of Ashton was riveted by SA’s strangest-ever bridge event on Saturday.

A long-awaited 110m-long and 22m-high bridge was being hydraulically shifted 24mm sideways into its final resting place spanning the Cogmanskloof River.

It represents a proud monument for the Western Cape department of transport and public works, the people of the Ashton-Montagu area, and all the contractors, labourers and suppliers who were involved in the project.

It is good practice to occasionally check all exterior drainage to ensure that rainwater will flow away from the house. If any water puddles stay for more than 24 hours, check your gutters to spot a bad sprout or loose connection, or maybe they just require a good cleaning.
