Toyota Hilux owners often ask why they can only get a low nudge bar. It is a fair question, and the answer is worth understanding properly.

The Hilux Legend is equipped with Toyota Safety Sense (TSS), which is a suite of active safety systems that include pre-collision warning, radar-based cruise control, and lane assist features. These systems rely on sensors and cameras mounted in the front fascia of the vehicle, typically behind or near the upper grille area.

A high nudge bar, by design, sits higher on the front of the vehicle. On the Legend, that height places the bar directly in the operating zone of the TSS sensors. Fitting a high nudge bar would obstruct or interfere with those sensors, disabling or degrading the active safety systems the vehicle depends on. The low nudge bar fits correctly below the sensor zone, providing genuine frontal protection and spotlight mounting capability without touching the TSS system.

Today, CAC products are fitted on fleets operating across South Africa. Nudge bars don’t simply look nice.
