Agrivoltaics, also known as agriPV, is a sustainable agricultural practice that combines the use of land for both solar energy production and agriculture. It was first conceived in 1981 by Adolf Goetzberger and Armin Zastrow.

Agrivoltaics can be used in a variety of ways, including:

Crop protection -
Solar panels can protect crops from high temperatures, evaporation, and high solar irradiation.

Water conservation -
The partial shade provided by the solar panels can reduce the amount of water needed for irrigation.

Pollinator support -
Agrivoltaics can be used to support pollinators, such as bees, which are responsible for pollinating around 70% of all plant species.

Additional revenue streams -
Farmers can generate clean energy and earn additional revenue from their land.

Land use efficiency -
Agrivoltaics can allow for up to 186% land use efficiency.
