On the 27th and 28th of May, Agri Eastern Cape and the Eastern Cape Red Meat Producers' Organisation hosted two Roadshows on the way forward for FMD. The Roadshows were specifically hosted in areas where farmers are affected by the disease and would appreciate guidance.

The first Roadshow was held in Jamestown with a good turnout of about 50 attendees. The second Roadshow was held in Stutterheim where about 80 people showed up. Both Roadshows were very successful and well attended.

Our guest speakers, Dr Frikkie Maré, Dr David Ge**er, Dr Gary Bauer and Dr David Pretorius, all shared very interesting and valuable information to the farmers and veterinarians in attendance.

Discussions took place about the policies and regulations involved with FMD, the background and use of vaccines, the viewpoint and input about FMD from a private vet's perspective as well as the disease management platforms used to monitor the disease.

Thank you to each and every farmer, state vet, private vet and individual that attended our Roadshows. We hope you found it beneficial and that we could provide clarity on certain issues.

Thank you to the Jamestown Farmers Association for hosting us in Jamestown as well as the Stutterheim Country Club for hosting us in Stutterheim.

After severe weather struck the Province a few weeks ago, multiple farming communities were greatly affected. The floods caused severe destruction of infrastructure, roads, houses and crops well over the value of R1 billion.

Agri Eastern Cape is assisting affected Farmers Associations to the best of our ability to support our farmers in need.

The Gamtoos Valley were one of the hugely affected areas and are calling for assistance from the public to repair damages. If you would like to make any contributions to the Gamtoos community to assist with repairs, please see details on the poster below.

Every cent contributed towards this initiative will be greatly appreciated.

The AIMS livestock management system is integrated with the RMIS traceability platform and we will be at NAMPO from 12 - 15 May at the Auction Complex Building. Visit us for more information.

AIMS, a livestock traceability, management and vaccination record-keeping system—designed around how farms work practically.

Built with farmers for farmers and the rest of the value chain. AIMS was developed in partnership with agricultural stakeholders and farmers who face the same pressures you do: limited time, strict compliance, and the need to get paperwork right the first time.

AIMS is a traceability and herd management platform designed for the commercial and communal farmer, with its primary function to ensure formal market access going forward.

From tag management, vaccination records, and livestock management to pregnancy profiles and weaning weights, AIMS is here to make your life easier.

AIMS is one of the 12 systems integrated with the RMIS Traceability Platform. The team will be at our NAMPO stand from 12 to 15 May at the Auction Complex Building near the north gate. Find out more and come and speak to them in person.
