Henley Air, Jonker Sailplanes and On-Track Technologies unveiled Peregrine Aerospace at the AISI 20-Year Commemoration, held during AAD 2026 at Air Force Base Waterkloof.

Hosted by the Department of Trade, Industry and Competition (the dtic), the event marked two decades of the Aerospace Industry Support Initiative, an initiative of the dtic hosted and managed by the CSIR. It also concluded Henley Air’s AISI-supported Bell 222/230 camera mount development programme.

During the ceremony, Henley Air Group Executive Chairman Dr Andre Coetzee presented a commemorative plaque to the dtic before signing the Peregrine Aerospace founding declaration alongside Uys Jonker, Director of Jonker Sailplanes, and AP Kotze, Managing Director of On-Track Technologies.

The Peregrine Bell 222 helicopter showcased at AAD 2026 this week is intended to be the first of three experimentally certified “Flying Test Laboratories” for ongoing design, development, upgrade and modernisation solutions. These aircraft will support the Henley 222 Legacy Twin project while providing a broader-spectrum test-platform service offering.

The partners intend to establish Peregrine Aerospace as a jointly owned, SACAA-approved aircraft design organisation. The proposed structure will combine Henley Air’s rotorcraft operational and maintenance experience, Jonker Sailplanes’ aircraft design and manufacturing capability, and On-Track Technologies’ precision engineering and composite manufacturing expertise.

The declaration records the partners’ shared intent. Corporate establishment, regulatory applications, scope of work and implementation remain subject to definitive agreements and the applicable South African Civil Aviation Authority approval processes.
