Waste bioconversion company based in Johannesburg and Krugersdorp is looking for an Operations Manager for BSF production facility.
Duties:
Labour
Task delegation
Training
Productivity – measurement, benchmarking and improvement implementation
Weekly reporting on labour quantity utilisation vs production efficiencies
Weekly Supervisor meeting and recording
Effective application of Supervisor resources
Monthly Supervisor evaluations
Merit evaluations of staff
Overtime management
Ensuring policies and procedures and followed and adhered to
Discipline enforcement
Packaging Methodology
Implementation of packaging systems and processes
Overseeing of sorting, packing and palletising processes
Maintenance scheduling and record keeping for packing machines and equipment
Monitoring intake documentation
Cooling Control, Receiving and Dispatching
Cold chain management - Ensuring optimised usage of cooling equipment/facilities
Maintenance and record keeping of equipment/facilities
Logistical planning – routes planning, delivery instructions etc.
Stock management – FIFO principle
Daily stock control
Control facility hygiene
Quality Control
Client specification management and training
Appointment, training and management of Quality Controllers
Data capturing of information – photos, measurements etc.
Produce quality feedback to production departments
Speedy corrective action where deviations have been identified
Packaging Material Systems Management
Daily packaging material control
Purchase forecast
Timeous orders
Control orders vs deliveries
Strick control over rental equipment i.e. Chep
Hygiene
Adherence to hygiene policies and procedures
Spot check on facilities – hand wash area, canteen, ablution facilities and visitors area
Ensuring facilities are kept clean – no waste to be kept in storage areas too long
Pest control management and records
Immediate reporting of any faults/breakages
Ensuring the general neatness and cleanliness around the packhouse facility
Food Safety
Implementation of an effective Food Safety System
Adherence to food safety policies and procedures
Audit compliance – GLOBALGAP, FSA, IBL etc.
Traceability management – training, records etc.
Desired Experience & Qualification
Relevant tertiary qualification
Five (5) years + practical experience in managing waste conversion process
Experience in Quality Systems
Knowledge and experience in organic/biological methodology will be an advantage
Knowledge of insect or animal production an advantage
Strong numerical and planning skills
