Some good news for solar households.

Eskom has extended its waiver of solar registration-related charges for qualifying systems up to 50 kVA until further notice.

That’s progress.

OUTA has been pushing back against unnecessary costs and red tape for households that have spent their own money installing safe, compliant solar systems.

But one question is still sitting in the sun:
Why should you be forced to register a compliant, behind-the-meter solar system that doesn’t feed electricity back into the grid?

If you export electricity, that’s different. Approval, metering and connection requirements make sense.

But generating electricity on your own property, for your own use? Eskom still needs to make a convincing case for compulsory registration.

We’ll keep asking.

☀️ Electricity isn't just about keeping the lights on anymore. It's about what those lights are going to cost you.

Eskom's electricity costs have risen significantly over the years — and that makes energy independence more important than ever.

Whether you're a homeowner, business owner or commercial property owner, solar can help you take greater control of your energy usage and reduce your reliance on the grid.
