What is Chemical Coated Plastic Bottles?

A chemical barrier is applied to pre-produced plastic bottles. Containers are exposed to chemical atoms under highly controlled conditions of time, temperature and pressure. This process allows the chemical gas to bond to the container’s surface resulting in smaller pores and permeation rates. The chemical treatment of plastic bottles are permanent and these bottles will not lose these properties. In other words, the treatment does not “expire.”

Benefits of Chemical Coated Plastic Bottles

Prevents plastic bottles from distortion and paneling
Prevents odor emission.
Reduces weight, flavor, and fragrance loss
Can replace more costly containers such as glass, metal, or barrier containers
Chemical coated bottles are just as recyclable as any other untreated bottle of the same material

Why should I use Chemical Coated Plastic Bottles?

Paneling and concerns regarding container integrity might cause some to consider packaging alternatives. Why not go with metal cans? What about glass bottles? Plastic bottles, even chemical treated plastic bottles, are still more cost effective than metal or glass in many circumstances. Like glass, plastic can be clear or opaque depending on the demand. It also maintains its integrity like metal, making it ideal for transportation or handling. Another advantage is weight. Plastic are considerably lighter than both metal and glass packaging.
