Building Communities, Not Just Infrastructure

At Bigen, we believe real estate is more than housing, roads, electricity, and water. It is about weaving all these elements together to create safe, inclusive, and thriving communities.

For 55 years, our Real Estate team has partnered with clients, governments, and communities to deliver projects that combine engineering excellence with financial and social solutions.

Every project is a promise, a promise to build environments where families can live with dignity, access opportunities, and prosper.

Thank you to our partners and communities who continue to trust us with shaping Africa’s future. Together, we are building more than infrastructure, we are building hope.

Celebrating 55 Years of Building with Purpose!
For 55 years, Bigen has helped deliver the infrastructure that keeps economies moving and communities growing.

Dams. Roads. Railways. Hospitals. Housing. Energy. Water.

But there is one thing we value even more than the infrastructure itself: trust. Trust earned, project by project, promise by promise and relationship by relationship.

We are deeply grateful to our clients who entrusted us with complex challenges, our partners who shared our ambition and the communities whose futures are connected to the infrastructure we build.

As cities grow, investing in resilient infrastructure becomes increasingly important.

We're proud to have contributed to the successful completion of Phase 1 of the City of Cape Town's R470 million Montague Gardens Bulk Sewer Upgrade, a project that will strengthen the city's wastewater network and help reduce sewer overflows for residents and businesses.

Congratulations to the City of Cape Town, the project team and all partners involved on this important milestone. We're especially proud to have been directly involved with this strategic project and that Bigen Principal Civil Engineer, Henk Aartsma, joined the official commissioning of the new sand trap and screening facility, and that the project team was recognised with the Southern African Society for Trenchless Technology's Joop van Wamelen Excellence Award 2026 for its innovative use of trenchless construction methods.
