Transnet SOC Ltd Chairperson Dr. Andile Sangqu visited the Transnet Engineering Durban Manufacturing Plant today.

The purpose of the visit was to assess the progress of the 23E Locomotive production line following his previous visit during the Locomotive No. 200 celebration last year.

Furthermore, the chairperson wanted to inspect the Wagon Operations Recovery Line, where the team is refurbishing Jumbo wagons for the Transnet Freight Rail (TFR) coal line.

The event is currently taking place from 20 - 23 October 2026 at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Today, Transnet Engineering and Wabtec Corporation celebrated a key milestone with the official signing of a long-term locomotive support agreement at the Koedoespoort Manufacturing Plant in Pretoria.

This agreement supports our Reinvent for Growth strategy and represents an important step in improving the performance of our locomotive fleet.
