We are a South African organisation guided by the belief that people learn best through experience.

In 2006, Junior Engineers For Africa (JEFA) started using technical Lego to teach engineering principles and robotics to groups of disadvantaged children (Kingsway Centre, Vuleka and Refilwe ). Initially, the facilitators were the members of the Lab Ratz Robotics Group. These teenagers won the All Africa First Lego League Competition in 2005 and 2006. Brenda Windram initiated and leads the group.

Locally and internationally, JEFA run workshops at schools and Science Festivals for groups of up to 130 learners. Robotics and special interest workshops are run for smaller groups of learners (8 to 10 people). Another goal is to enable school aged learners to reach their full potential. We do this by using problem solving and teachable moments. Hands On Technology (HOT, the SA importers of educational LEGO, accredit the courses we run and have supported our activities since 2002. JEFA Robotics & Everyday Engineering courses are based on material written or supplied by HOT.
